How does Case Files–With the Detective work?
You read through a classic detective story section by section, taking notes and text messaging with the world's most famous detectives (Holmes, Dupin, Brown, etc.) as you investigate. Once you've reviewed all the evidence, your detective challenges you to prove you've solved the case. The detective won't simply tell you the answer—you must demonstrate you understand WHO did it, HOW they did it, and WHY.
Is this just another mystery game with energy timers and paywalls?

After that, each complete story costs $2.99—no energy systems, no waiting timers, no paying to see crucial clues. Once you purchase a story, it's yours to play at your own pace. What detective stories are available?
Volume One features the greatest mysteries from detective fiction's golden age, including Sherlock Holmes cases like "The Red-Headed League," Father Brown mysteries by G.K. Chesterton, and C. Auguste Dupin tales by Edgar Allan Poe. All our stories are carefully selected public domain classics that follow fair-play rules—every clue you need appears before the solution. We are actively working on Volume Two right now.
Do I need to be familiar with these detective characters?
Not at all! Each story stands alone, and you don't need any prior knowledge. The detective's personality will shine through in your chat, but the mystery itself is self-contained. Whether you're a lifelong Holmes fan or discovering these characters for the first time, you'll enjoy the experience equally.
How does the detective chat actually work?
While reading the story, you'll enter a conversation with the detective. They'll challenge your theories, point out logical flaws, and demand specific evidence. If you mention something vague like "it was suicide," they'll push for details about the method. The detective references your investigation notes, creating a personalized experience. Get all three elements right (who, how, why) and they'll congratulate you and unlock the full solution.

How long does each story take to complete?
Everyone reads and investigates at their own pace! Our stories typically run around 10,000 words—about the length of a long magazine article or short novella. Some players dive deep into every clue, while others skim for key evidence. Take as long as you like with your investigation, pause whenever you need, and return to your notes at any time. There's no timer or pressure—it's your mystery to solve at your own speed.
Is this appropriate for younger players?
While our stories don't contain graphic content, they do involve murder mysteries and require strong reading comprehension and logical reasoning skills. We recommend the app for ages 12+ with parental guidance, or 16+ for independent play. The classic stories maintain the propriety of their era while dealing with serious themes.
What makes this different from other mystery apps?

Is my progress saved between sessions?
